Creating a trap

Trapping is used to compensate for any gaps or color shifts that may occur between adjoining or overlapping objects when printing. These gaps or color shifts are the effect of misregistration, which happens if the paper or the printing plates become misaligned during printing. Trapping is a technique developed by commercial print shops to slightly overprint the colors along common edges.
