Lesson 12. Drawing Cylinders and Boxes > Drawing three-dimensional objects

Drawing three-dimensional objects

Smart Guides are very useful in creating complex shapes, such as the three-dimensional objects in this lesson. Smart Guides help you select and snap to points to create, edit, move, align, and transform objects by creating temporary guides that indicate paths, anchor and path points, and angles. You can use Smart Guides with the pen tool or the shape tools, the selection tools, and the transformation tools.

The Pathfinder palette is also helpful in creating complex shapes. Pathfinder commands combine, isolate, and subdivide shapes as part of creating complex objects. You can further modify shapes by changing their size, shape, or orientation with the free transform tool or the reflect, rotate, scale, and shear tools.
