Lesson 11. Creating Airbrush Effects >  Reflecting mesh objects

Reflecting mesh objects

You can use the reflect tool and other tools in the toolbox on a mesh object just like any other type of object. Now you'll reflect a copy of the two wing parts to complete the butterfly.

Select the selection tool ( ) in the toolbox, and Shift-click to select both the tail wing and the forewing on the bottom butterfly.

Select the reflect tool ( ) in the toolbox, hold down Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac OS), and click in the center of the butterfly's body, midway between the selected wing parts and the wing guides on the right.

Clicking the body of the butterfly designates the point of origin from which the object will reflect. Holding down Alt/Option as you click displays the Reflect dialog box.

In the Reflect dialog box, select the Angle option and type 46 in the degree text box. Click Copy. (Don't click OK.)

Depending on where you clicked to set the reflecting reference point in step 2, you may need to slightly adjust the position of the reflected copy using the arrow keys—or choose Edit > Undo and repeat steps 2 and 3.
