Chapter 15. Special Effects

Chapter 15. Special Effects

Previous chapters showed you how to transform objects with such techniques as duplicating, filling graphics with color and patterns, skewing, grouping, and blending. This chapter takes those transformations and helps you put them together to create exciting special effects. These effects are not hard to do, now that you know the basics, and they will add a professional touch to your graphics. As you move through the chapter, don't hesitate to experiment! If you think a technique you learned previously might add an interesting effect, try it out.

This chapter starts out showing you how to use envelopes, containers that distort an object's shape, creating nifty effects. To do this you'll use the Interactive Envelope Tool. Then, you will use the Interactive Blend Tool, to morph one object into another. From there, you will learn how to add perspective to objects and create objects by drawing their shadows. Next, you'll use the Interactive Transparency Tool to make objects see-through. Then, you'll use the Interactive Distortion Tool, to quickly stretch and reshape objects. From there, you'll discover how to use the new Interactive Contour Tool to create amazing effects. Finally, you'll find out how to add motion trails to objects, giving them the illusion of motion.
