Setting Up Shares: Getting to Files, Folders, and Printers on Your Network

If you have been in a rush to begin using your new home network, you might be frustrated to discover that it seems like the network simply isn't working. In this case, what seems to be true probably isn't. Your network probably is working properly, but you haven't completed the vital step of setting up network shares, and this is preventing you from making effective use of your network. Fortunately, setting up the shares is a simple task that will only take a few minutes to complete.

Sharing Your Files

Sharing your files enables other users on your network to use those files. Generally speaking, what you are actually sharing is access to specific folders rather than to individual files. The access rights that you grant a user apply to all the files within that folder.
