Other Network Platforms of Note

Our discussion of network operating systems wouldn't be complete without a look at Unix and Linux. And as far as Unix administrators and Linux aficionados are concerned, this chapter would be pretty much complete after the discussion of these two classes of network operating systems.

Unix and Linux are similar in a lot of respects. Linux is actually a Unix clone developed by Linus Torvalds in 1994. Let's take a look at Unix and then its younger stepbrother, Linux.
