Introducing Bluetooth Technology

Although the technology for integrating PDAs into a network infrastructure is still somewhat limited, I would like to end our overview of PDAs with some information on Bluetooth, a new wireless technology that shows great promise in connecting mobile devices such as PDAs with PCs and network devices.

In 1998 some of the big players in the PC and mobile computing arenas, such as Intel, IBM, Nokia, and Toshiba, banded together to come up with a new standard for connecting mobile devices. This search for a standard has resulted in Bluetooth, which is an open-specification, royalty-free technology.
