Acknowledgments

As you will find with computer networking, networks (like Rome) are not built in a day. And the same goes for a book like this. It really does take a team (sometimes it seems like a village) to create a book that covers a subject matter that seems to change on a daily basis.

First of all, I would like to thank Kim Rich, who took time out from her busy schedule to shoot many of the photos that appear in this book. I would also like to thank Chad Zook, who reviewed the proposal and outline for this book and made a number of excellent suggestions related to the book's content.

I would also like to acknowledge the very hard-working Jenny Watson, my acquisitions editor, who assembled the team that worked on this project. Jenny showed the patience of the Buddha and made sure the project stayed on track. Jenny certainly receives a heart-felt thanks for making this book project a reality.

A big thanks goes out to Mark Reddin, the development editor, who burned the midnight oil to make sure this was the best book possible. Also, I would like to thank my former teaching colleague, Bill Morter, a fantastic computer instructor and curriculum designer, who verified the technical aspects of the text and made many useful suggestions for improving the book's content.

I would also like to thank Bart Reed, our copy editor, for cleaning up the text and finally, a big thanks to the Project Editor, Susan Moore, who ran the last leg of the race and made sure this book got into print (and into your local bookstore). Thank you all very much!
