Chapter 3. Connecting to the Internet > Setting Up a Broadband Connection

Setting Up a Broadband Connection

On a Windows XP computer, broadband Internet connections are set up differently than dial-up connections, although you can use the New Connection Wizard to set up your broadband Internet connection as well.

Important

If you use an always-on Internet connection such as DSL or cable, you should protect your computer from hackers and other online threats by using a firewall. Windows XP has a built-in firewall that is set up by default by the Network Setup Wizard.
