Cookie— A cookie is a small file placed on a user's hard drive by a Web site. Cookies store user passwords to Web sites, and they are also used to record and report a PC host user's Web link selections and other information to marketing organizations. This information is used to advertise specific products to that Web site user. Some cookies cause targeted pop-up or banner advertisements to appear on the PC host user's monitor.

Cracker— A cracker is a 13- to 45-year-old male whose entire social life consists of cracking program code, creating virus programs that corrupt Windows, or breaking into other people's PCs. In this manner he gets his 15 minutes of fame, plus free food and an opportunity to twiddle his thumbs for from 5 to 20 years.
