Chapter 23. Sharing Your Song > Customize Your Export Information

185. Customize Your Export Information

When you export your song from GarageBand, the music is saved in an AIFF file, which is a format that contains very little supplementary information (such as the ID3 tags that appear in MP3 files; see 46 About Audio Formats for more about these technical details). AIFF files are uncompressed, meaning they are of pristine studio quality and suitable for the highest-grade multimedia work; but they're also much too large to transfer over the Internet. AIFF files also don't carry with them any supplementary data, such as the composer name, the track title, or what playlists the song should be part of.
