17.8. Overlaying Video over Sound

One of the most popular editing techniques—both with editors and audiences—is the video overlay. (On the Internet, you may hear this technique called an insert edit, which actually has nothing to do with pasting video over audio.)

As shown in Figure 17-11, a video overlay is where the video cuts away to a new picture, but you continue to hear the audio from the original clip.
