Chapter 15. Mail > Scripts menu

Scripts menu

An AppleScript is a small piece of code that makes something happen. If you know how to write scripts or how to use Automator, you can do all kinds of great things. Mail provides you with a list of several useful and useless scripts in the Scripts menu (which doesn't actually say “Scripts” in the menu bar but has a little icon that looks like a parchment scroll).

If you are accustomed to using the script and noticed that the Scripts menu is no longer in the menu bar, don't worry—you can add it. Open the Applications folder, then open the AppleScripts folder, then double-click on the AppleScript Utility to open it. In the window, check the box to “Show Script Menu in menu bar.” Quit the utility.
