Chapter 4. iDVD > Start by Selecting a Theme

Start by Selecting a Theme

DVDs use menus, as explained on page 183, to provide navigation to the content on the disc. iDVD provides various menu themes for you to choose from. Many of them are in motion and arthus called motion menus. If you have a lot of content to squeeze onto a disc, you can economize disc space by using static menus instead of motion menus.

Tip

If you don't have any movie content yet, follow the tutorial that came with iDVD and use the content included in the iDVD “Tutorial” folder.

A single iDVD menu can contain a maximum of 12 “buttons” (also called “links”) which connect to movies, slideshows, or to other menus. The other menus can also contain up to 12 buttons each. So a single iDVD project can contain a maximum of 99 menus.

To open iDVD, double-click the iDVD icon in your Applications folder. Or single-click the iDVD icon in the Dock, if it's there.
