Chapter 4. iDVD > Add music to a slideshow

Add music to a slideshow

It's amazing how much a musical soundtrack can add to the richness and enjoyment of a slideshow. iDVD's integration with iTunes makes it easy to add a soundtrack to your slideshow:

iDVD's slideshow creation is fast, easy, and convenient. It's also limited in that you can choose just one audio soundtrack and one transition style. It you want more creative control, create your slideshow in iPhoto, then export the slideshow, or choose “Send to iDVD” from iPhoto's Share menu.See pages 4145.

1.
Click the “Customize” button at the bottom of iDVD's window to open the Customize drawer.

2.
Click the “Media” button at the top of the drawer.

3.
Choose “Audio” from the pop-up menu.

The iTunes Library and all of your iTunes playlists appear in the upper pane of the drawer, and the lower pane shows the songs in the selected playlist.

4.
Select any song and drag it from the Audio pane to the Audio well, as shown below.

Or select a song in the Media pane, then click the “Apply” button at the bottom of the drawer (circled below).

Or drag an audio file from anywhere on your computer and drop it in the Audio well.

To delete the audio soundtrack from a slideshow, drag the audio file's icon out of the Audio well.

iDVD will accept audio file formats that are compatible with QuickTime and iTunes, including AIFF, WAV, MP3, M4P, and AAC.
