Setting Your Remote to Control the Entire System

The first step to taking control of your home theater system is to consolidate your system’s remotes. Although your receiver’s remote is probably the only one with basic learning and macro capabilities, it might not be able to control your entire system. Most receiver remotes feature basic learning and macro creation capability, but they typically do not feature enough internal memory to completely reproduce the needed functionality from your other remote controls. Although it isn’t realistic to transfer all the functionality from all your remotes into a single remote, it is almost a necessity that you get the basic functions funneled into a single remote.

First, identify the crucial buttons on each remote that you think you’ll use regularly, such as:
