Personal Video Recorders

A new entry to home theater systems is the personal television recorder (PVR). A PVR serves as a digital VCR that records and stores your programming on a hard disk, like your computer’s disk drive. Two of the major brand names of PVR devices are Tivo and Replay. By using massive disk drives, these recorders can store over sixty hours of programming. (See Figure 4.9.)
