Chapter 6.  Using Advanced Features  >  Switching from Windows to Mac

Switching from Windows to Mac

The iPod is specially configured with software for either a Mac or a Windows-based PC. If you purchased an iPod for Windows, you can reformat it to work on your Mac by using the iPod Software Updater, which lets you update or restore your iPod (available free from Apple Software Downloads at http://www.apple.com/swupdates/).

Switching from Windows to Mac reformats the iPod disk, wiping out all your music and data, and restores the iPod to its factory default settings, removing any custom settings. After reformatting, you have to update your iPod with music and information, and customize your settings again.
