iTunes Importing and Converting Options

Before you rip an audio CD or convert a sound file, you should first set the importing preferences in iTunes to the encoding format, bit rate, and quality settings you want.

Setting Importing Preferences

In iTunes, choose iTunes>Preferences, and then click the Importing button at the top of the window. The Encoder pop-up menu lets you choose an encoding format. The Setting pop-up menu offers different settings depending on your choice of encoder. As shown in Figure 4.1, the AAC Encoder offers only two choices: High Quality and Custom. To fine-tune the AAC Encoder settings, choose Custom.
