Chapter 1.  Getting in Tune  >  What You Can Do with iTunes (Mac) and Musi...

What You Can Do with iTunes (Mac) and MusicMatch Jukebox (PC)

With iTunes for the Mac, or MusicMatch Jukebox for the PC, your computer is a vast jukebox limited only by your disk space, which you could keep perpetually updated to play the tunes you want to hear. You can manage this library and keep a backup copy to preserve the music in high-quality format. iTunes is distributed with every Mac, and the newest version is also available on the CD-ROM that comes with your iPod and on the Apple Web site (www.apple.com) for downloading. The appropriate version of MusicMatch Jukebox licensed by Apple (version 7.50 as of this writing) is available on the CD-ROM supplied with your iPod.

iTunes and MusicMatch Jukebox are very similar in the way they work. It’s quick and easy to slip in a CD and “rip” (transfer and digitally encode) songs into your music library. The ripping process is very fast, and track information including artist name and title arrives automatically over the Internet.
