Chapter 7. Installing New Palm Programs > Installing Add-On Programs

7.1. Installing Add-On Programs

Where do you get new programs for your PalmPilot? Over 3,000 are included on the CD-ROM with this book. Hundreds more are available from the Internet, at sites such as PalmCentral.com (see Appendix C, for a list of software-rich web sites). The quantity and quality of commercial Palm software is exploding, too—the catalog that comes with the Palm III family is twice as thick as the one that came with previous models.

Once you've bought or downloaded a new program, you'll probably find that its name ends with .prc (which stands for Pilot resource code). A few installable files' names end with .pdb (short for Pilot database); these aren't programs, but rather data files used by programs.
