Our look is the result of reader comments, our own experimentation, and feedback from distribution channels. Distinctive covers complement our distinctive approach to technical topics, breathing personality and life into potentially dry subjects.

The animal on the cover of PalmPilot: The Ultimate Guide is a flying squirrel. This rodent, immortalized in cartoon form as half of Rocky and Bullwinkle, is able to "fly" or glide spread-eagled through the air for distances of up to 50 meters, by means of a "flightskin." This furry skin extends from the front paws to the ankles, and operates as a parachute when flying and landing. The squirrel's tail is used as a rudder, enabling it to change direction in flight. The flying squirrel is less graceful on the ground than in the air, due to this same skin.
