What makes an inkjet printer a photo printer? After all, you can print photos from just about any recent inkjet printer and get passable to terrific results, depending on the printer. Well, at the risk of offending some printer maker, let's take a stab at defining a “photo printer.” Inkjet photo printers usually have the following features:
Special photo inks (often six or more colors)
Flash memory card slots for direct printing (these can sometimes be used as a card reader for transferring data to your PC)
The ability to print directly from a camera or, in some cases, an external storage device such as a Zip, CD, or DVD drive
