Troubleshooting Routers and Gateways

If you are using a router, gateway, or access point to share an Internet connection with the network instead of using Windows ICS, you need to configure it before you can configure the stations on the network.

Because the router, gateway, or access point replaces the original single-computer connection to the broadband Internet modem, it needs to use the same settings as you originally used for the computer that was attached directly to the broadband Internet modem. Run IPCONFIG on the computer connected to the broadband Internet connection to display your current settings.
