Troubleshooting Monitors and Displays

Whether you use the traditional cathode-ray tube (CRT) or newer liquid crystal (LCD) display, a defective or broken display can be a big problem. If you've ever tried typing on a PC with a broken monitor, you know how frustrating it can be to get no feedback from your system. It's vital to keep it working right, but it isn't always easy to tell which problems are caused by the display and which are caused by other parts of the display subsystem.
