Chapter 14. Finding and Installing Third-Party Applications

BLACKBERRY BASICS:

  • Add third-party applications to your handheld to make it an even more useful tool for you.

  • Applications can be small productivity applications and games, but also can be enterprisewide applications that integrate with your current enterprise systems.

  • Make your own applications using a free tool and the Java programming language.

  • www.Handango.com, www.PDATopSoft.com, and www.RimRoad.com are three of the best websites for finding applications.

Now that you've had a chance to learn about all the applications that come with your handheld, you might be surprised to learn that you can add applications that other people have written. These are collectively called third-party applications because they have been written by someone other than Research In Motion (RIM), the company that makes the BlackBerry.
