It's difficult to get very far in any discussion about mobile computing without the topic of security coming up. And for good reason. When you start carrying around sensitive data on a mobile device that can communicate wirelessly, security concerns rise dramatically as compared with desktop PCs. There are several reasons for this, with the primary one being how easy it is to lose a mobile device and have it fall into the wrong hands. Another less-obvious but equally troublesome risk is the one associated with wireless networking—people tend to think of mobile devices in terms of mobile phones, but they really are mobile computers. More specifically, in the case of BlackBerry devices, they are mobile computers with a constant wireless network connection.
