Chapter 7. Hardware Annoyances > CURLING PICTURES

CURLING PICTURES

The Annoyance:

I just started scanning my 30-year-old collection of photos and many have a little curl. When I place one on the scanner and close the cover, it's hard to keep the photo from moving. Short of taking off the scanner cover and holding down the picture by hand, I'm not sure what to do.

The Fix:

Use the glass from a picture frame to hold down those curling prints, then gently close the scanner cover. By the way, when I want to scan my wife's sticky, oil-splattered recipes, I sandwich the pages between two sheets of glass to keep my scanner's platen dainty and clean.
