Chapter 7. Hardware Annoyances > EMERGENCY POWER FOR PALMS

EMERGENCY POWER FOR PALMS

The Annoyance:

I love my Palm PDA, but I'm lucky if I get a day's worth of battery life out of it. That's not a problem at the office-I can snap it into its cradle and recharge it. But schlepping the cradle with me on a business trip is a pain. There must be a better way.

The Fix:

When I'm on the road, I leave the cradle at home and bring Tech Center Labs' tiny $15 Power Adapter for Universal Connector Palms (http://www.talestuff.com). Plug one end into the cradle connector on your PDA, plug the other into the wall adapter normally attached to the cradle, and you're charging away. Another option: run your Palm with the company's $15 AA Emergency Charger for Universal Connector Palms, which uses rechargeable or regular AA batteries. And in dire emergencies, the company's $20 Universal 9 volt Emergency Charger will give your Tungsten Palm (and other PDAs, such as the Garmin) enough juice so you can finish that hand of solitaire.
