WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER ANNOYANCES

WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER WON'T COPY MUSIC TO MP3 PLAYER

The Annoyance:

I've ripped music from a CD using Windows Media Player, and now I can't copy it to my portable MP3 player. What gives?

The Fix:

By default, Windows Media Player takes a rather draconian approach to stopping copyright violations. It automatically copy protects your files, and will only let you copy them to other devices or to a CD if you pay for them, even if you've ripped the music from your own CDs. There's a simple solution: turn off copy protection. Select Tools → Options, click the Copy Music tab, and uncheck the "Copy protect music" box.
