Remember . . .

  • If you have a broadband connection, you are always connected to the Internet (unless you use a crummy provider) and you can instantly open and use your browser or email program anytime you like, night or day.

  • If you have a dial-up account, your provider will disconnect you if you are “idle” (not actively using the connection) for a certain length of time (a time that they determine; you might want to ask what that is).

  • If you use AOL, you will have to first log into AOL if you want to use programs like Safari, many of the widgets, or the iTunes database or music store.

  • If you use AOL, you will not be able to get your mail through Apple's Mail program—you have to use the AOL software or their web site (www.aol.com).
