Chapter 5. Contacts > Palm Desktop Special Features

Palm Desktop Special Features

In general, the desktop software mirrors the Palm OS in functionality. However, a few features of Palm Desktop also add functionality, such as dialing phone numbers (if your PC is connected to the phone line you use for making calls), printing records, and sharing data with other applications.

To dial phone numbers

1.
In the Contacts list, click the contact you wish to call.

2.
In Windows, choose Dial from the Edit menu, or right-click the contact and select Dial from the popup menu that appears. In Palm Desktop for Macintosh, open the contact's information and click the Dial button (Figure 5.61). (In Mac OS X, you can dial only through the computer's speaker, however.)

3.
Pick up the phone after the number begins dialing, and press the Talk button (Windows) or the Release button (Mac OS 9 version).
