Chapter 10. Web Access

Slowly but surely, the World Wide Web has been making inroads into Palm handhelds, first with the wireless Palm VII (which used small Web-clipping programs called Palm Query Applications, or PQAs, to view selected sites) and now with the Treo, which can make the jump to just about any Web site in mere seconds without much hassle. But you don't need a cellular handheld to surf the Net. You can dial into your ISP using a compatible cell phone via either infrared or Bluetooth.

If you don't have the option of dialing in directly, you can still download Web content during the HotSync process using AvantGo (even if you use a Macintosh, which isn't officially supported). We find ourselves reading articles or news items from a handful of sites on our handhelds while waiting in line, stuck in traffic, or otherwise stalled.
