HotSync Troubleshooting

HotSync Troubleshooting

If you have any troubles at all, they're likely to be related to HotSync. Although in practice HotSync is a simple process, it relies on several factors that control the communication with your computer.

Common HotSync fixes

  • In Palm Desktop, check that your settings in the HotSync Setup screen are correct.

  • Under Windows, exit HotSync Manager, then launch it again. On a Macintosh, make sure Local HotSync is enabled; if it is already on, disable it manually, wait a few seconds, then re-enable it.

  • Verify that the HotSync cable or cradle is plugged into the correct port on your computer.

  • Reduce the port speed in the Setup screen.

  • Disable any software that might be sharing the communication ports. Fax software is often the culprit, because it's always monitoring for incoming faxes.

  • If you're using a USB hub, try plugging the HotSync cradle or cable directly into the USB connection on the computer.
