Icons

One of the original features of the Macintosh that made it famous was its use of icons, or little pictures, that represent every File in the computer so you can just double-click to open a document, instead of having to dig up the File by typing in awful codes.

Because all the visual stuff on an iMac screen can be so overwhelming, beginners often don't notice that the icons provide very important clues. I'm going to point out the most important clues, and when you're ready you might want to read more about them in The Little Mac Book.
