Chapter 6. Make a Simple Spreadsheet > Add a graphic to the spreadsheet

Add a graphic to the spreadsheet

Let's juice this up a little bit with a graphic. The process is a little different in the two versions of AppleWorks. If you are using AppleWorks 5 or ClarisWorks, follow the directions below. If you are using AppleWorks 6, see the next page.

Add a graphic in AppleWorks 5 or ClarisWorks

  1. From the File menu, slide down to "Library," then from the other menu that pops out (shown below), choose "Animals." You'll get a little floating library "palette" of animal images (also shown below, right).

This palette acts like any window: scroll to see the list of animals, move it around by dragging the title bar, close it with the Close Box.

    This is the Library menu.

Once you choose an item from the Library menu, you'll get this floating palette.

  2. Scroll down the list in the Animals palette to find "Frog," click once on "Frog," then click the "Use" button. That cute little frog will land on your spreadsheet, and you'll see "handles" on each corner of the graphic. The handles indicate the graphic is selected.

  3. Press in the middle of the graphic and drag it into the position shown below.

  4. You can put the Animals library away now (click in its Close Box).
