Adobe Acrobat

Adobe Acrobat isn't an application that you will be creating anything in; it's an application you need to read and print documents that someone else wrote. For instance, you probably noticed that you got all these CDs and applications with your iMac, but no printed documentation (no explanations of what to do with it all). But almost every application folder on your iMac includes an "Acrobat" manual, meaning the manual was written, then a copy of it was turned into an "Acrobat" file using the software called Acrobat Distiller. This Acrobat file can be opened and read on any computer (Mac or otherwise), and the pages are fully formatted just as they would look in a printed book. You can choose to read on the screen just the parts of the manual you need, or you can print up the whole thing. It's really great.

This is, of course, the Acrobat folder (you might have version 3 or 4, depending on how new your iMac is).
