Chapter 20. AirPort > Step 8. Make an AirPort Location

Step 8. Make an AirPort Location

Remember that location you made in Step 2 for your standard connection? Make one now for your AirPort connection so you can easily switch between them when necessary.

  1. While your AirPort connection is still the active one (that is, you just turned it off and haven't changed any settings anywhere else), go to the Control Strip and open the Location Manager again, as you did in Step 2b.

  2. The Location Manager has changed the "Current Location" to "AirPort" because that's how you just connected. In the "Edit Location" menu, choose "AirPort," as shown below. Put checks in "AppleTalk & tcp/ip," "Internet Set," and "Remote Access." If you know what you're doing, check any other boxes whose settings you want to keep in this location (see the file sharing note in the sidebar); if not, these three will do.

  3. Save this location: press Command S.

  4. Make a quick trip to the Preferences from the Edit menu and uncheck the box "Ask me to save any changes upon restart, shut down, etc." Quit.
