Chapter 20. AirPort > Step 6. Connect to the Internet

Step 6. Connect to the Internet

As soon as the AirPort Setup Assistant is finished, you can connect to the Internet.

  1. In the Control Strip, you have a new module for the AirPort, as shown to the right and below. Click on it and choose "Turn AirPort On."

This is your new AirPort Control Strip module.

  2. Now go right back to that module, click again, and this time you'll see the connection you named in the Setup Assistant. Choose it. You'll be asked to supply the password you created in the Setup Assistant.

  3. You are ready to connect to the Internet. If you have a cable or dsl connection, you are accustomed to having your connection on all the time, but if you are used to a standard dial-up modem, you probably use Remote Access to connect. Don't do that! Don't use Remote Access when you want to connect wirelessly through the AirPort. Just double-click your browser or your email application and you're there.

Except: For some reason almost every time you try to go to the first web page you will get an error message like the one shown below (Apple knows this). Click the ok button on the error message, and tell your browser to find that page again. It will.

Click OK and tell your browser to try again.
