Installing Add-In Cards

Add-in cards, also called expansion boards, are circuit boards that you connect to a computer to add functionality. Some commonly used add-in cards are video adapters to add video memory and graphics processing, sound cards to enable your computer to play and record sounds, and accelerator boards that enhance the computer processing speed.

caution

Avoid installing too many add-in cards because each pulls on the electrical current coming into your computer. Check your manual to see what your specific system can handle.
