Chapter 5. File Management Basics > The Virtual Filing Cabinet

The Virtual Filing Cabinet

Computer files come in all types and sizes, from files containing photo images to the file where you saved your school play program or taxes. After you've been using your Pavilion for a while, you'll find that you have more files than you know what to do with. If you start out with a good filing system for your documents, you'll avoid a lot of pain down the road.

The filing system that Windows uses is one with folders. Just like the folders you use in a regular filing cabinet, you place related files in Windows folders. In addition, just as you place a manila folder inside a hanging folder, you can place folders within folders in Windows. You can even make copies of files and place them in other folders or move files between folders with ease.
