Installing Software

Everybody needs different things out of a computer. Some use it for emailing and word processing, while others spend every computing minute playing the latest Lara Croft game or editing home videos. As you use your HP Pavilion, you'll discover additional software programs that you'd like to use. Luckily, installing software is a simple process.

What to Know Before You Install

There are a few things to keep in mind before you install software. First is computer memory. Your hard drive probably has a tremendous capacity compared to computers of only a few years ago, but everything has its limits. Your hard drive can get filled up with graphics and multimedia files, as well as the software you install. You have to be sure there's enough memory for the program you want to install. During most software installation routines, there will be a message concerning how much memory you need to install the software and how much is available on your hard drive. If those numbers are very close, consider deleting an unwanted program or two so that you're not at your memory limit.
