Chapter 11. Movies and Videotapes > Questions to Consider

Questions to Consider

Before you rent, purchase, or produce a movie or videotape, ask yourself:

Does a movie or video fit my objectives?

Is it appropriate for this specific group of people and this occasion?

What does it accomplish that couldn’t be accomplished by another medium?

Are the people and situations depicted realistically? Are they relevant to the work my participants do?

Are the dialogues natural and believable?

Does the movie or video cover a “digestible” amount of material?

Does it portray a pluralistic workforce (a representative mixture of sexes, ethnicities, ages, disabilities)?

Is the technical quality good?

  • sound and picture clear?

  • colors true?

  • music mixed well?
