Thumbnail Sketches

The next step in planning your visual aids is to make some thumbnail sketches— rough drawings (absolutely no need to be artistic)—approximately 2 inches by 3 inches in which you explore some of the possibilities for the layout of each visual.

For example, let’s say you have three components to include in a 35-mm slide: a headline, five lines of type, and a drawing of a computer. On your thumbnail sketch, you might show the three components like this:
