Introduction

Microsoft SharePoint technology, known as SharePoint Team Services, is a collection of products and services which provide the ability for people to engage in communication, document and file sharing, calendar events, sending alerts, tasks planning, and collaborative discussions in a single community solution. SharePoint enables companies to develop an intelligent application which connects their employees, teams, and information so that users can be part of a Knowledge Community. Before you can use SharePoint Team Services, SharePoint needs to be set up and configured on a Windows 2003 Server by your network administrator or Internet service provider.

With Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003, you can create a new SharePoint site using a template. The SharePoint Web Site template creates a standard Team Site with a team events calendar, library for shared documents, task list, and contact list. You can also add SharePoint Web applications to create a related Web site using SharePoint package templates. The package templates allows you to create an issue tracking site with management tools, a news and reviews site with discussions and voting, and a Web log site with discussions, favorite links and a log search.
