Chapter 14. Customizing FrontPage > Customizing General Options

Customizing General Options

You can customize several settings in the FrontPage work environment to suit the way you like to work. You can customize the way FrontPage starts up and whether it warns you about certain actions that you cannot undo. For example, one option automatically opens the last Web site you worked on when you start FrontPage. Other options check if FrontPage is the default editor for all Web pages or if Office is the default editor for Web pages created in Office programs.

Change General Options

Click the Tools menu, and then click Options.

Click the General tab.

Select the startup and general options you want. Some of the common options include:

  • Startup Task Pane. Displays the Getting Started task pane every time you open FrontPage.

  • Open Last Web Site Automatically When FrontPage Starts. Opens the Web site you most recently worked on.

  • Check If Office Is The Default Editor For Pages Created In Office. Verifies file type associations for Office.

  • Check If FrontPage Is The Default Editor For Pages. Verifies FrontPage is the standard editor for Web pages.

  • Warn Before Applying Themes To All Pages In A Web. Displays a confirmation dialog box before you can apply a theme, which you cannot undo.

To change proxy firewall settings for the Internet, click Proxy Settings.

Click OK.
