Inserting Content into Layers

Perhaps the easiest thing to do with layers is to insert content into them. That's because layers are really no different from a table cell or any other container element: You simply click in the layer and type, insert, or paste the elements that you want. You are not limited in any way in the types of elements you can insert. You can insert text, tables, images, or even other layers as you see fit.

tip

If you have layers that overlap, it can often be hard to select the layer into which you want to insert content by clicking in it. In these cases, you can select the layer by clicking on it in the Layers task pane. Another option is to hide layers that you aren't currently working with by using the visibility property. That way, the hidden layers don't show in Design view, and you can then click directly in one of the visible layers.
