Chapter 1. Getting Started with FrontPag... > Becoming Familiar with the FrontPage...

Becoming Familiar with the FrontPage Environment

FrontPage is both a Web-design and a site-maintenance tool. Not surprisingly, the features of FrontPage that enable you to perform these interrelated tasks require more than just a lengthy display of menus. If you take a look at FrontPage when you first open it, as shown in Figure 1.1, the workspace consists not only of menus but also of toolbars, a folder list, a task pane, and a variety of view options. The actual design and site management are done in the main window. Development is done using the tools in the toolbars and menus. You access new webs and pages, themes, templates, behaviors, and outside resources using the task pane on the right side of the screen. Finally, the folder list on the left side of the screen helps you keep your bearings.
