Deleting Web Sites

Suppose you were using a Web site as an experiment, or that you have a site that you're no longer maintaining. If so, you can delete the site within FrontPage. Here's how:

1.
Open the site you want to delete.

2.
In the folder list (View, Folder List, if it's not already visible), click the root folder of the site. The root folder is the top-most item in the folder list, containing the full path of the site.

3.
Press the Delete key on your keyboard.

4.
In the Confirm Delete dialog box, shown in Figure 2.14, choose which files you want to delete:

  • Remote FrontPage information from this Web site only, preserving all other files and folders— Removes the special files and folders used by FrontPage to manage the site, but leaves the site's pages and images on your local computer. This lets you save the site itself so that you can modify it later in another Web-design program or convert it back to a FrontPage site if you need it again.

  • Delete this Web site entirely— Deletes all the files and folders in the site, removing them entirely from your local computer.

Figure 2.14. The Confirm Delete dialog box offers two options for wiping out a Web site on the local computer.

5.
Click OK.
