Chapter 6. Creating and Modifying Graphics > The Rules of Adding Images

The Rules of Adding Images

Although the purpose of this chapter is to show you how to insert images and fit them to your needs, there is some additional information you should know.

First, graphics should be used carefully because the inclusion of many different graphics on one page or even the use of one or two very large graphics can appreciably slow the loading of that page in a visitor's Web browser. This is especially true if that user is connected to the Internet via a dial-up (phone and modem) rather than a high-speed (satellite, cable, or DSL modem) connection. If you're using dial-up, you'll hit the same problem when you visit your own site.
